Duration: 6–7 days | March–April (Paro Dzong festival season)
Paro Tshechu is one of Bhutan’s most famous festivals, held at Rinpung Dzong with mask dances and the giant Thongdrel unveiling.
Day 1 – Arrive Paro → Transfer to Thimphu
- Paro airport arrival
- Drive to Thimphu (1–1.5 hrs)
- Evening: local market walk
Day 2 – Thimphu sightseeing
- Buddha Dordenma viewpoint
- Memorial Chorten
- Tashichho Dzong (if timing matches, Thimphu Tshechu can also be added in Sept)
Day 3 – Thimphu → Punakha
- Dochula Pass (photography stop)
- Punakha Dzong visit
- Suspension bridge walk
Day 4 – Punakha → Paro
- Scenic drive back
- Relax in Paro town
Day 5 – Paro Tshechu Festival Day 1
- Mask dances at Rinpung Dzong
- Festival photography + local food stalls
Day 6 – Paro Tshechu Festival Day 2 (Throngdrel day if lucky)
- Giant thangka display (most sacred day)
- Cultural performances
Day 7 – Tiger’s Nest hike
- Taktsang Monastery hike (half/full day)
- Departure next morning
